Inx2 protein detection patterns vary with depth through polarised cells.
Z-series sections through the boundary between two pupal salivary gland cells. Large Inx2-immunopositive vesicles are observed near the basal (non-lumenal) surface of cells (marked by *). Arrows indicate linear gap junction plaque structures in the plasma membrane. Large arrowheads point to small Inx2 vesicles in presumptive golgi around cell nuclei (nuc). Plaque intensity becomes reduced at the apical (lumen) side of the nucleus (Z section 10). Inx2 staining is low or absent as one looks more apically below this level.
