inx2-reporter expression on the adult brain surface.
Image showing a region of the surface of an adult brain of genotype 2GM1GAL4 /+; UAS-mCD8::GFP.L /+. GFP is detected in putative surface glia (SG, essentially covering the whole surface of the brain). The arrowheads highlight staining at the putative boundary of surface glia or perineurial cells. Perineurial cells are large, flat, glia-like cells that ensheath the brain. Other images of Inx2 expression in the brain are available here. The 2GM1 GAL4-line directs expression of GAL4 under the transcriptional control of a 10.5kb regulatory DNA sequence from the inx2 gene. The expression pattern of this line reflects that of the endogenous inx2 gene at various developmental stages. NOTE: Many UAS-reporter lines express reporter protein in mushroom body neurons using this GAL4 line, but no Inx2 protein is detectable in these neurons using techniques such as antibody staining.
