Wing phenotype caused by UAS-ogre expression.

Photograph of a wing from an animal of genotype 2GM1GAL4 / UAS-ogre 2UO15. Mild wing serration is observed (arrowhead). UAS-ogre 2UO15 is a medium-strength line. Weaker UAS-ogre lines produce no phenotype and stronger ones induce more extensive serration. The 2GM1 GAL4-line directs expression of GAL4 under the transcriptional control of a 10.5kb regulatory DNA sequence from the inx2 gene. There are two notable observations arising from expression studies using this line: firstly, UAS-ogre induces wing serration phenotypes but not vein Delta-like phenotypes, whereas UAS-inx7 induces vein Delta-like, but not margin Serrate-like phenotypes. Secondly, attempts to express UAS-inx2 (even weakly expressing lines) causes lethality.
