Strong expression of UAS-inx2 in the leg produces some unusual phenotypes.

Photograph of the mesothoracic leg of an animal of genotype DllGAL4 / UAS-inx22UE10; UAS-inx23UE26 /+. The DllGAL4 (distalless pattern) line drives a high level of expression of Inx2 protein throughout the developing leg from the two copies of UAS-inx2 (both encode wild type inx2). Nearly all of the leg segments are mis-shapen and, with the exception of the fifth tarsal segment (possessing the claw), all of the tarsal segments are either missing or have been replaced by a very thin, single segment.
